Founded in 2006, Benchmark Technology is a 100% minority owned technology firm located in Meridian, MS. Founder Amy Bass, former technology administrator and educator, sought to establish a firm that would promote technology aggressively in Mississippi.
The mission of Benchmark Technology is "To better prepare the community for success in the society of the future." It has been the goal of Benchmark Technology in Phase 1 to meet this mission by providing educational institutions and businesses with technology solutions to be competitive and the skills needed to employ that technology for increased productivity.
In K-12 and higher education, the education technologists at Benchmark have been working with educators and administrators to integrate technology into the curriculum. Based on research from the Center for Applied Research in Educational Technology (CARET), http://caret.iste.edu, technology integration improves academic achievement by increasing motivation, attitude, and interest in learning, develops higher order thinking and problem solving skills, and effectively prepares students for the workforce. Benchmark Technology has provided customized professional development training for schools and districts and hosted a variety of open enrollment workshops.
In the corporate sector, Benchmark has served businesses that have had a need to advance the technology skills of their employees. The customized training programs at Benchmark have enabled businesses to generate projects internally saving thousands of dollars in outsourcing.
It is the goal of Benchmark Technology to be a comprehensive technology service provider. Phase 1 of development has focused on the establishment of staff development services. In 2008, Phase 2 of development began. This phase has enabled Benchmark to enter into a consulting phase with clientele in which assessment and planning could take place that would result in the implementation of a technology infrastructure clients need for increased productivity. Benchmark now provides complete technology solutions that include network design and installation, network and data security, wireless technologies, computer hardware and software, website development, and support.
